Xylia had a total of 188 orange and blue beads. She used 20 orange beads and 75% of the blue beads. After that, the ratio of the number of orange beads to blue beads Xylia had was 8 : 1.

1. What fraction of her blue beads did Xylia use? Give your answer in the simplest form.
2. How many beads did Xylia have in the end?

Since the numbers are already the same, we do not need to use LCM to make them the same.

Number of blue beads at first = 4 u
Number of orange beads at first = 8 u + 20

Total number of beads at first
= 4 u + 8 u + 20
= 12 u + 20

12 u + 20 = 188
12 u = 188 - 20
12 u = 168

1 u = 168 ÷ 12 = 14

Number of blue beads in the end = 1 u
Number of orange beads in the end = 8 u

Total number of beads in the end
= 8 u + 1 u
= 9 u
= 9 x 14
= 126
