Zara had a total of 227 green and orange beads. She used 31 green beads and 60% of the orange beads. After that, the ratio of the number of green beads to orange beads Zara had was 9 : 2.

1. What fraction of her orange beads was Zara left with? Give your answer in the simplest form.
2. How many more green beads than orange beads did Zara have in the end?

Since the numbers are already the same, we do not need to use LCM to make them the same.

Number of orange beads at first = 5 u
Number of green beads at first = 9 u + 31

Total number of beads at first
= 5 u + 9 u + 31
= 14 u + 31

14 u + 31 = 227
14 u = 227 - 31
14 u = 196

1 u = 196 ÷ 14 = 14

Number of orange beads in the end = 2 u
Number of green beads in the end = 9 u

Number of more green beads than orange beads that Zara had in the end
= 9 u - 2 u
= 7 u
= 7 x 14
= 98
