Esther had a total of 114 blue and yellow beads. She used 24 blue beads and 80% of the yellow beads. After that, the ratio of the number of blue beads to yellow beads Esther had was 4 : 1.

1. What fraction of her yellow beads was Esther left with? Give your answer in the simplest form.
2. How many more blue beads than yellow beads did Esther have in the end?

Since the numbers are already the same, we do not need to use LCM to make them the same.

Number of yellow beads at first = 5 u
Number of blue beads at first = 4 u + 24

Total number of beads at first
= 5 u + 4 u + 24
= 9 u + 24

9 u + 24 = 114
9 u = 114 - 24
9 u = 90

1 u = 90 ÷ 9 = 10

Number of yellow beads in the end = 1 u
Number of blue beads in the end = 4 u

Number of more blue beads than yellow beads that Esther had in the end
= 4 u - 1 u
= 3 u
= 3 x 10
= 30
