Anna had a total of 198 purple and silver beads. She used 16 purple beads and 80% of the silver beads. After that, the ratio of the number of purple beads to silver beads Anna had was 8 : 1.

1. What fraction of her silver beads did Anna use? Give your answer in the simplest form.
2. How many beads did Anna have in the end?

Since the numbers are already the same, we do not need to use LCM to make them the same.

Number of silver beads at first = 5 u
Number of purple beads at first = 8 u + 16

Total number of beads at first
= 5 u + 8 u + 16
= 13 u + 16

13 u + 16 = 198
13 u = 198 - 16
13 u = 182

1 u = 182 ÷ 13 = 14

Number of silver beads in the end = 1 u
Number of purple beads in the end = 8 u

Total number of beads in the end
= 8 u + 1 u
= 9 u
= 9 x 14
= 126
