Diana had a total of 124 pink and blue beads. She used 14 pink beads and 40% of the blue beads. After that, the ratio of the number of pink beads to blue beads Diana had was 5 : 3.

1. What fraction of her blue beads did Diana use? Give your answer in the simplest form.
2. How many beads did Diana have in the end?

Since the numbers are already the same, we do not need to use LCM to make them the same.

Number of blue beads at first = 5 u
Number of pink beads at first = 5 u + 14

Total number of beads at first
= 5 u + 5 u + 14
= 10 u + 14

10 u + 14 = 124
10 u = 124 - 14
10 u = 110

1 u = 110 ÷ 10 = 11

Number of blue beads in the end = 3 u
Number of pink beads in the end = 5 u

Total number of beads in the end
= 5 u + 3 u
= 8 u
= 8 x 11
= 88
