Fanny had a total of 257 orange and pink beads. She used 32 orange beads and 40% of the pink beads. After that, the ratio of the number of orange beads to pink beads Fanny had was 10 : 3.

1. What fraction of her pink beads was Fanny left with? Give your answer in the simplest form.
2. How many more orange beads than pink beads did Fanny have in the end?

Since the numbers are already the same, we do not need to use LCM to make them the same.

Number of pink beads at first = 5 u
Number of orange beads at first = 10 u + 32

Total number of beads at first
= 5 u + 10 u + 32
= 15 u + 32

15 u + 32 = 257
15 u = 257 - 32
15 u = 225

1 u = 225 ÷ 15 = 15

Number of pink beads in the end = 3 u
Number of orange beads in the end = 10 u

Number of more orange beads than pink beads that Fanny had in the end
= 10 u - 3 u
= 7 u
= 7 x 15
= 105
