Wendy had a total of 154 orange and gold beads. She used 46 orange beads and 70% of the gold beads. After that, the ratio of the number of orange beads to gold beads Wendy had was 2 : 3.

1. What fraction of her gold beads did Wendy use? Give your answer in the simplest form.
2. How many beads did Wendy have in the end?

Since the numbers are already the same, we do not need to use LCM to make them the same.

Number of gold beads at first = 10 u
Number of orange beads at first = 2 u + 46

Total number of beads at first
= 10 u + 2 u + 46
= 12 u + 46

12 u + 46 = 154
12 u = 154 - 46
12 u = 108

1 u = 108 ÷ 12 = 9

Number of gold beads in the end = 3 u
Number of orange beads in the end = 2 u

Total number of beads in the end
= 2 u + 3 u
= 5 u
= 5 x 9
= 45
