Kathy had a total of 120 green and red beads. She used 48 green beads and 25% of the red beads. After that, the ratio of the number of green beads to red beads Kathy had was 2 : 3.

1. What fraction of her red beads did Kathy use? Give your answer in the simplest form.
2. How many beads did Kathy have in the end?

Since the numbers are already the same, we do not need to use LCM to make them the same.

Number of red beads at first = 4 u
Number of green beads at first = 2 u + 48

Total number of beads at first
= 4 u + 2 u + 48
= 6 u + 48

6 u + 48 = 120
6 u = 120 - 48
6 u = 72

1 u = 72 ÷ 6 = 12

Number of red beads in the end = 3 u
Number of green beads in the end = 2 u

Total number of beads in the end
= 2 u + 3 u
= 5 u
= 5 x 12
= 60
