Ivory had a total of 89 orange and pink beads. She used 47 orange beads and 75% of the pink beads. After that, the ratio of the number of orange beads to pink beads Ivory had was 2 : 1.

1. What fraction of her pink beads did Ivory use? Give your answer in the simplest form.
2. How many beads did Ivory have in the end?

The number of pink beads in the end is repeated.
Since the numbers are already the same, we do not need to use LCM to make them the same.

Number of pink beads at first = 4 u
Number of orange beads at first = 2 u + 47

Total number of beads at first
= 4 u + 2 u + 47
= 6 u + 47

6 u + 47 = 89
6 u = 89 - 47
6 u = 42

1 u = 42 ÷ 6 = 7

Number of pink beads in the end = 1 u
Number of orange beads in the end = 2 u

Total number of beads in the end
= 2 u + 1 u
= 3 u
= 3 x 7
= 21
