Elyse had a total of 222 blue and green beads. She used 42 blue beads and 40% of the green beads. After that, the ratio of the number of blue beads to green beads Elyse had was 7 : 3.

1. What fraction of her green beads was Elyse left with? Give your answer in the simplest form.
2. How many more blue beads than green beads did Elyse have in the end?

Since the numbers are already the same, we do not need to use LCM to make them the same.

Number of green beads at first = 5 u
Number of blue beads at first = 7 u + 42

Total number of beads at first
= 5 u + 7 u + 42
= 12 u + 42

12 u + 42 = 222
12 u = 222 - 42
12 u = 180

1 u = 180 ÷ 12 = 15

Number of green beads in the end = 3 u
Number of blue beads in the end = 7 u

Number of more blue beads than green beads that Elyse had in the end
= 7 u - 3 u
= 4 u
= 4 x 15
= 60
