Dana had a total of 143 yellow and orange beads. She used 23 yellow beads and 75% of the orange beads. After that, the ratio of the number of yellow beads to orange beads Dana had was 8 : 1.

1. What fraction of her orange beads did Dana use? Give your answer in the simplest form.
2. How many beads did Dana have in the end?

Number of orange beads at first = 4 u
Number of yellow beads at first = 8 u + 23

Total number of beads at first
= 4 u + 8 u + 23
= 12 u + 23

12 u + 23 = 143
12 u = 143 - 23
12 u = 120

1 u = 120 ÷ 12 = 10

Number of orange beads in the end = 1 u
Number of yellow beads in the end = 8 u

Total number of beads in the end
= 8 u + 1 u
= 9 u
= 9 x 10
= 90
