Fanny had a total of 174 red and purple beads. She used 34 red beads and 75% of the purple beads. After that, the ratio of the number of red beads to purple beads Fanny had was 6 : 1.

1. What fraction of her purple beads did Fanny use? Give your answer in the simplest form.

Number of purple beads at first = 4 u
Number of red beads at first = 6 u + 34

Total number of beads at first
= 4 u + 6 u + 34
= 10 u + 34

10 u + 34 = 174
10 u = 174 - 34
10 u = 140

1 u = 140 ÷ 10 = 14

Number of purple beads in the end = 1 u
Number of red beads in the end = 6 u

Total number of beads in the end
= 6 u + 1 u
= 7 u
= 7 x 14
= 98
