Length of the rectangle
= 10 u
= 2 radii + 38
Breadth of the rectangle
= 7 u
= 2 radii + 8
10 u - 7 u = (2 radii) + 38 - (2 radii + 8)
3 u = 38 - 8
3 u = 30
1 u = 30 ÷ 3 = 10
7 u = 7 x 10 = 70
Radius of the quarter circle
= (70 - 8) ÷ 2
= 62 ÷ 2
= 31 cm

Perimeter of the 4 quarter circles
= 3.14 x 62
= 194.68 cm
Perimeter of the shaded part
= 194.68 + 38 + 38 + 8 + 8
= 286.68 cm
≈ 286.7 cm (Correct to 1 decimal place)
