Asher and Nick have the same total number of coins. Asher has a number of twenty-cent coins and 52 five-cent coins. The total mass of his coins is 1.594 kg. Nick has a number of twenty-cent coins and 92 five-cent coins.

Since Asher has less five-cent coins than Nick but both had the same number of coins, Asher had more money.

Both boys have the same number of coins. Since Asher has less five-cent coins than Nick, it means that Asher has more twenty-cent coins than Nick. So Asher has more money.

Difference in the number of five-cent coins.
= 92 - 52
= 40

Difference in the value of 1 five-cent coin and 1 twenty-cent coin
= 20 - 5
= 15¢

Amount that Asher had more than Nick
= 40 x 15
= 600¢
= $6

(b)
Difference in the mass between 40 five-cent coins and 40 twenty-cent coins
= 40 x 3.6
= 144 g
= 0.144 kg

Total mass of Nick's coins
= 1.594 - 0.144
= 1.45 kg
