PSLEThe graphs show the total number of leaflets machines A and B printed from the start. Both machines started printing at the same time.
- How many more leaflets did B print than A in 3 minutes?
- Both machines did not change their rates of printing throughout. When A had printed 200 leaflets, how many leaflets had B printed?
(a)
Machine A:
15 min → 120
Machine B:
15 min → 150
Machine B more than Machine A:
15 min → 150 - 120 = 30
1 min → 30 ÷ 15 = 2
3 min → 3 x 2 = 6
Number of leaflets that Machine B printed more than Machine A in 3 min = 6
(b)
Machine A:
200 leaflets → 25 min
Machine B:
15 min → 150
1 min → 150 ÷ 15 = 10
25 min → 25 x 10 = 250
Number of leaflets that Machine B had printed when Machine A had printed 200 leaflets = 250
Answer(s): (a) 6; (b) 250
