PSLEThe graphs show the total number of leaflets machines L and M printed from the start. Both machines started printing at the same time.
- How many more leaflets did M print than L in 9 minutes?
- Both machines did not change their rates of printing throughout. When L had printed 200 leaflets, how many leaflets had M printed?
(a)
Machine L:
10 min → 80
Machine M:
10 min → 100
Machine M more than Machine L:
10 min → 100 - 80 = 20
1 min → 20 ÷ 10 = 2
9 min → 9 x 2 = 18
Number of leaflets that Machine M printed more than Machine L in 9 min = 18
(b)
Machine L:
200 leaflets → 25 min
Machine M:
10 min → 100
1 min → 100 ÷ 10 = 10
25 min → 25 x 10 = 250
Number of leaflets that Machine M had printed when Machine L had printed 200 leaflets = 250
Answer(s): (a) 18; (b) 250
