PSLEThe graphs show the total number of leaflets machines V and W printed from the start. Both machines started printing at the same time.
- How many more leaflets did W print than V in 6 minutes?
- Both machines did not change their rates of printing throughout. When V had printed 250 leaflets, how many leaflets had W printed?
(a)
Machine V:
10 min → 100
Machine W:
10 min → 150
Machine W more than Machine V:
10 min → 150 - 100 = 50
1 min → 50 ÷ 10 = 5
6 min → 6 x 5 = 30
Number of leaflets that Machine W printed more than Machine V in 6 min = 30
(b)
Machine V:
250 leaflets → 25 min
Machine W:
10 min → 150
1 min → 150 ÷ 10 = 15
25 min → 25 x 15 = 375
Number of leaflets that Machine W had printed when Machine V had printed 250 leaflets = 375
Answer(s): (a) 30; (b) 375
