PSLEThe graphs show the total number of leaflets machines A and B printed from the start. Both machines started printing at the same time.
- How many less leaflets did A print than B in 5 minutes?
- Both machines did not change their rates of printing throughout. When A had printed 300 leaflets, how many leaflets had B printed?
(a)
Machine A:
6 min → 60
Machine B:
6 min → 90
Machine A less than Machine B:
6 min → 90 - 60 = 30
1 min → 30 ÷ 6 = 5
5 min → 5 x 5 = 25
Number of leaflets that Machine A printed less than Machine B in 5 min = 25
(b)
Machine A:
300 leaflets → 30 min
Machine B:
6 min → 90
1 min → 90 ÷ 6 = 15
30 min → 30 x 15 = 450
Number of leaflets that Machine B had printed when Machine A had printed 300 leaflets = 450
Answer(s): (a) 25; (b) 450
