PSLEThe graphs show the total number of leaflets machines S and T printed from the start. Both machines started printing at the same time.
- How many more leaflets did T print than S in 3 minutes?
- Both machines did not change their rates of printing throughout. When S had printed 150 leaflets, how many leaflets had T printed?
(a)
Machine S:
10 min → 60
Machine T:
10 min → 100
Machine T more than Machine S:
10 min → 100 - 60 = 40
1 min → 40 ÷ 10 = 4
3 min → 3 x 4 = 12
Number of leaflets that Machine T printed more than Machine S in 3 min = 12
(b)
Machine S:
150 leaflets → 25 min
Machine T:
10 min → 100
1 min → 100 ÷ 10 = 10
25 min → 25 x 10 = 250
Number of leaflets that Machine T had printed when Machine S had printed 150 leaflets = 250
Answer(s): (a) 12; (b) 250
