PSLEThe graphs show the total number of leaflets machines H and J printed from the start. Both machines started printing at the same time.
- How many less leaflets did H print than J in 6 minutes?
- Both machines did not change their rates of printing throughout. When H had printed 250 leaflets, how many leaflets had J printed?
(a)
Machine H:
30 min → 150
Machine J:
30 min → 300
Machine H less than Machine J:
30 min → 300 - 150 = 150
1 min → 150 ÷ 30 = 5
6 min → 6 x 5 = 30
Number of leaflets that machine H printed less than Machine J in 6 min = 30
(b)
Machine H:
250 leaflets → 50 min
Machine J:
30 min → 300
1 min → 300 ÷ 30 = 10
50 min → 50 x 10 = 500
Number of leaflets that J had printed when H had printed 250 leaflets = 500
Answer(s): (a) 30; (b) 500
