PSLEThe graphs show the total number of leaflets machines M and N printed from the start. Both machines started printing at the same time.
- How many more leaflets did N print than M in 3 minutes?
- Both machines did not change their rates of printing throughout. When M had printed 200 leaflets, how many leaflets had N printed?
(a)
Machine M:
10 min → 80
Machine N:
10 min → 150
Machine N more than Machine M:
10 min → 150 - 80 = 70
1 min → 70 ÷ 10 = 7
3 min → 3 x 7 = 21
Number of leaflets that Machine N printed more than Machine M in 3 min = 21
(b)
Machine M:
200 leaflets → 25 min
Machine N:
10 min → 150
1 min → 150 ÷ 10 = 15
25 min → 25 x 15 = 375
Number of leaflets that Machine N had printed when Machine M had printed 200 leaflets = 375
Answer(s): (a) 21; (b) 375
