PSLEThe graphs show the total number of leaflets machines K and L printed from the start. Both machines started printing at the same time.
- How many more leaflets did L print than K in 3 minutes?
- Both machines did not change their rates of printing throughout. When K had printed 200 leaflets, how many leaflets had L printed?
(a)
Machine K:
4 min → 40
Machine L:
4 min → 60
Machine L more than Machine K:
4 min → 60 - 40 = 20
1 min → 20 ÷ 4 = 5
3 min → 3 x 5 = 15
Number of leaflets that Machine L printed more than Machine K in 3 min = 15
(b)
Machine K:
200 leaflets → 20 min
Machine L:
4 min → 60
1 min → 60 ÷ 4 = 15
20 min → 20 x 15 = 300
Number of leaflets that Machine L had printed when Machine K had printed 200 leaflets = 300
Answer(s): (a) 15; (b) 300
