PSLEThe graphs show the total number of leaflets machines K and L printed from the start. Both machines started printing at the same time.
- How many less leaflets did K print than L in 4 minutes?
- Both machines did not change their rates of printing throughout. When K had printed 250 leaflets, how many leaflets had L printed?
(a)
Machine K:
10 min → 50
Machine L:
10 min → 80
Machine K less than Machine L:
10 min → 80 - 50 = 30
1 min → 30 ÷ 10 = 3
4 min → 4 x 3 = 12
Number of leaflets that machine K printed less than Machine L in 4 min = 12
(b)
Machine K:
250 leaflets → 50 min
Machine L:
10 min → 80
1 min → 80 ÷ 10 = 8
50 min → 50 x 8 = 400
Number of leaflets that L had printed when K had printed 250 leaflets = 400
Answer(s): (a) 12; (b) 400
