PSLEThe graphs show the total number of leaflets machines L and M printed from the start. Both machines started printing at the same time.
- How many less leaflets did L print than M in 5 minutes?
- Both machines did not change their rates of printing throughout. When L had printed 250 leaflets, how many leaflets had M printed?
(a)
Machine L:
10 min → 100
Machine M:
10 min → 150
Machine L less than Machine M:
10 min → 150 - 100 = 50
1 min → 50 ÷ 10 = 5
5 min → 5 x 5 = 25
Number of leaflets that machine L printed less than Machine M in 5 min = 25
(b)
Machine L:
250 leaflets → 25 min
Machine M:
10 min → 150
1 min → 150 ÷ 10 = 15
25 min → 25 x 15 = 375
Number of leaflets that M had printed when L had printed 250 leaflets = 375
Answer(s): (a) 25; (b) 375
