PSLEThe graphs show the total number of leaflets machines M and N printed from the start. Both machines started printing at the same time.
- How many less leaflets did M print than N in 9 minutes?
- Both machines did not change their rates of printing throughout. When M had printed 250 leaflets, how many leaflets had N printed?
(a)
Machine M:
20 min → 100
Machine N:
20 min → 200
Machine M less than Machine N:
20 min → 200 - 100 = 100
1 min → 100 ÷ 20 = 5
9 min → 9 x 5 = 45
Number of leaflets that machine M printed less than Machine N in 9 min = 45
(b)
Machine M:
250 leaflets → 50 min
Machine N:
20 min → 200
1 min → 200 ÷ 20 = 10
50 min → 50 x 10 = 500
Number of leaflets that N had printed when M had printed 250 leaflets = 500
Answer(s): (a) 45; (b) 500
