PSLEThe graphs show the total number of leaflets machines C and D printed from the start. Both machines started printing at the same time.
- How many more leaflets did D print than C in 5 minutes?
- Both machines did not change their rates of printing throughout. When C had printed 200 leaflets, how many leaflets had D printed?
(a)
Machine C:
4 min → 40
Machine D:
4 min → 60
Machine D more than Machine C:
4 min → 60 - 40 = 20
1 min → 20 ÷ 4 = 5
5 min → 5 x 5 = 25
Number of leaflets that Machine D printed more than Machine C in 5 min = 25
(b)
Machine C:
200 leaflets → 20 min
Machine D:
4 min → 60
1 min → 60 ÷ 4 = 15
20 min → 20 x 15 = 300
Number of leaflets that Machine D had printed when Machine C had printed 200 leaflets = 300
Answer(s): (a) 25; (b) 300
