PSLEThe graphs show the total number of leaflets machines B and C printed from the start. Both machines started printing at the same time.
- How many less leaflets did B print than C in 6 minutes?
- Both machines did not change their rates of printing throughout. When B had printed 250 leaflets, how many leaflets had C printed?
(a)
Machine B:
10 min → 100
Machine C:
10 min → 200
Machine B less than Machine C:
10 min → 200 - 100 = 100
1 min → 100 ÷ 10 = 10
6 min → 6 x 10 = 60
Number of leaflets that machine B printed less than Machine C in 6 min = 60
(b)
Machine B:
250 leaflets → 25 min
Machine C:
10 min → 200
1 min → 200 ÷ 10 = 20
25 min → 25 x 20 = 500
Number of leaflets that C had printed when B had printed 250 leaflets = 500
Answer(s): (a) 60; (b) 500
