PSLEThe graphs show the total number of leaflets machines N and P printed from the start. Both machines started printing at the same time.
- How many less leaflets did N print than P in 9 minutes?
- Both machines did not change their rates of printing throughout. When N had printed 250 leaflets, how many leaflets had P printed?
(a)
Machine N:
10 min → 50
Machine P:
10 min → 200
Machine N less than Machine P:
10 min → 200 - 50 = 150
1 min → 150 ÷ 10 = 15
9 min → 9 x 15 = 135
Number of leaflets that machine N printed less than Machine P in 9 min = 135
(b)
Machine N:
250 leaflets → 50 min
Machine P:
10 min → 200
1 min → 200 ÷ 10 = 20
50 min → 50 x 20 = 1000
Number of leaflets that P had printed when N had printed 250 leaflets = 1000
Answer(s): (a) 135; (b) 1000
