Vincent and Cody were paid a total of $1940 for a job they did. Vincent was paid $900 more than Cody.

1. How much was Cody paid for the job?
2. Vincent and Cody were paid based on the number of days they worked. Vincent worked 2 times as many days as Cody. Cody was paid $10 less than Vincent per day. How many days did Vincent work?

Amount that Cody was paid = 1 u
Amount that Vincent was paid = 1 u + 900

Total amount paid
= 1 u + 1 u + 900
= 2 u + 900

2 u + 900 = 1940
2 u = 1940 - 900
2 u = 1040

1 u = 1040 ÷ 2 = 520

Amount that Cody was paid
= 1 u
= $520

(b)
Amount that Vincent was paid
= 1 u + 900
= 520 + 900
= $1420

Vincent worked 2 times as many days as Cody.

2 sets of Vincent's salary = $1420

1 set of Vincent's salary
= 1420 ÷ 2
= $710

1 set of Cody's salary = $520

Difference between each set of Vincent's and Cody's salaries
= 710 - 520
= $190

Number of days in 1 set
= 190 ÷ 10
= 19

Number of days that Vincent worked
= 2 x 19
= 38
