Neave and Caden were paid a total of $4020 for a job they did. Neave was paid $1840 more than Caden.

1. How much was Caden paid for the job?
2. Neave and Caden were paid based on the number of days they worked. Neave worked 2 times as many days as Caden. Caden was paid $25 less than Neave per day. How many days did Neave work?

Amount that Caden was paid = 1 u
Amount that Neave was paid = 1 u + 1840

Total amount paid
= 1 u + 1 u + 1840
= 2 u + 1840

2 u + 1840 = 4020
2 u = 4020 - 1840
2 u = 2180

1 u = 2180 ÷ 2 = 1090

Amount that Caden was paid
= 1 u
= $1090

(b)
Amount that Neave was paid
= 1 u + 1840
= 1090 + 1840
= $2930

Neave worked 2 times as many days as Caden.

2 sets of Neave's salary = $2930

1 set of Neave's salary
= 2930 ÷ 2
= $1465

1 set of Caden's salary = $1090

Difference between each set of Neave's and Caden's salaries
= 1465 - 1090
= $375

Number of days in 1 set
= 375 ÷ 25
= 15

Number of days that Neave worked
= 2 x 15
= 30
