Bobby and Peter were paid a total of $1920 for a job they did. Peter was paid $1380 less than Bobby.

1. How much was Peter paid for the job?
2. Bobby and Peter were paid based on the number of days they worked. Bobby worked 5 times as many days as Peter. Bobby was paid $12 more than Peter per day. How many days did Bobby work?

Amount that Peter was paid = 1 u
Amount that Bobby was paid = 1 u + 1380

Total amount paid
= 1 u + 1 u + 1380
= 2 u + 1380

2 u + 1380 = 1920
2 u = 1920 - 1380
2 u = 540

1 u = 540 ÷ 2 = 270

Amount that Peter was paid
= 1 u
= $270

(b)
Amount that Bobby was paid
= 1 u + 1380
= 270 + 1380
= $1650

Bobby worked 5 times as many days as Peter.

5 sets of Bobby's salary = $1650

1 set of Bobby's salary
= 1650 ÷ 5
= $330

1 set of Peter's salary = $270

Difference between each set of Bobby's and Peter's salaries
= 330 - 270
= $60

Number of days in 1 set
= 60 ÷ 12
= 5

Number of days that Bobby worked
= 5 x 5
= 25
