Perry and Lee were paid a total of $1810 for a job they did. Perry was paid $1310 more than Lee.

1. How much was Lee paid for the job?
2. Perry and Lee were paid based on the number of days they worked. Perry worked 3 times as many days as Lee. Lee was paid $15 less than Perry per day. How many days did Perry work?

Amount that Lee was paid = 1 u
Amount that Perry was paid = 1 u + 1310

Total amount paid
= 1 u + 1 u + 1310
= 2 u + 1310

2 u + 1310 = 1810
2 u = 1810 - 1310
2 u = 500

1 u = 500 ÷ 2 = 250

Amount that Lee was paid
= 1 u
= $250

(b)
Amount that Perry was paid
= 1 u + 1310
= 250 + 1310
= $1560

Perry worked 3 times as many days as Lee.

3 sets of Perry's salary = $1560

1 set of Perry's salary
= 1560 ÷ 3
= $520

1 set of Lee's salary = $250

Difference between each set of Perry's and Lee's salaries
= 520 - 250
= $270

Number of days in 1 set
= 270 ÷ 15
= 18

Number of days that Perry worked
= 3 x 18
= 54
