Rael and Flynn were paid a total of $2150 for a job they did. Flynn was paid $850 less than Rael.

1. How much was Flynn paid for the job?
2. Rael and Flynn were paid based on the number of days they worked. Rael worked 2 times as many days as Flynn. Rael was paid $20 more than Flynn per day. How many days did Rael work?

Amount that Flynn was paid = 1 u
Amount that Rael was paid = 1 u + 850

Total amount paid
= 1 u + 1 u + 850
= 2 u + 850

2 u + 850 = 2150
2 u = 2150 - 850
2 u = 1300

1 u = 1300 ÷ 2 = 650

Amount that Flynn was paid
= 1 u
= $650

(b)
Amount that Rael was paid
= 1 u + 850
= 650 + 850
= $1500

Rael worked 2 times as many days as Flynn.

2 sets of Rael's salary = $1500

1 set of Rael's salary
= 1500 ÷ 2
= $750

1 set of Flynn's salary = $650

Difference between each set of Rael's and Flynn's salaries
= 750 - 650
= $100

Number of days in 1 set
= 100 ÷ 20
= 5

Number of days that Rael worked
= 2 x 5
= 10
