Jenson and George were paid a total of $3010 for a job they did. Jenson was paid $1640 more than George.

1. How much was George paid for the job?
2. Jenson and George were paid based on the number of days they worked. Jenson worked 3 times as many days as George. George was paid $15 less than Jenson per day. How many days did Jenson work?

Amount that George was paid = 1 u
Amount that Jenson was paid = 1 u + 1640

Total amount paid
= 1 u + 1 u + 1640
= 2 u + 1640

2 u + 1640 = 3010
2 u = 3010 - 1640
2 u = 1370

1 u = 1370 ÷ 2 = 685

Amount that George was paid
= 1 u
= $685

(b)
Amount that Jenson was paid
= 1 u + 1640
= 685 + 1640
= $2325

Jenson worked 3 times as many days as George.

3 sets of Jenson's salary = $2325

1 set of Jenson's salary
= 2325 ÷ 3
= $775

1 set of George's salary = $685

Difference between each set of Jenson's and George's salaries
= 775 - 685
= $90

Number of days in 1 set
= 90 ÷ 15
= 6

Number of days that Jenson worked
= 3 x 6
= 18
