Ethan and Eric were paid a total of $2600 for a job they did. Eric was paid $1900 less than Ethan.

1. How much was Eric paid for the job?
2. Ethan and Eric were paid based on the number of days they worked. Ethan worked 5 times as many days as Eric. Ethan was paid $25 more than Eric per day. How many days did Ethan work?

Amount that Eric was paid = 1 u
Amount that Ethan was paid = 1 u + 1900

Total amount paid
= 1 u + 1 u + 1900
= 2 u + 1900

2 u + 1900 = 2600
2 u = 2600 - 1900
2 u = 700

1 u = 700 ÷ 2 = 350

Amount that Eric was paid
= 1 u
= $350

(b)
Amount that Ethan was paid
= 1 u + 1900
= 350 + 1900
= $2250

Ethan worked 5 times as many days as Eric.

5 sets of Ethan's salary = $2250

1 set of Ethan's salary
= 2250 ÷ 5
= $450

1 set of Eric's salary = $350

Difference between each set of Ethan's and Eric's salaries
= 450 - 350
= $100

Number of days in 1 set
= 100 ÷ 25
= 4

Number of days that Ethan worked
= 5 x 4
= 20
