Asher and Dylan were paid a total of $2560 for a job they did. Dylan was paid $1730 less than Asher.

1. How much was Dylan paid for the job?
2. Asher and Dylan were paid based on the number of days they worked. Asher worked 3 times as many days as Dylan. Asher was paid $25 more than Dylan per day. How many days did Asher work?

Amount that Dylan was paid = 1 u
Amount that Asher was paid = 1 u + 1730

Total amount paid
= 1 u + 1 u + 1730
= 2 u + 1730

2 u + 1730 = 2560
2 u = 2560 - 1730
2 u = 830

1 u = 830 ÷ 2 = 415

Amount that Dylan was paid
= 1 u
= $415

(b)
Amount that Asher was paid
= 1 u + 1730
= 415 + 1730
= $2145

Asher worked 3 times as many days as Dylan.

3 sets of Asher's salary = $2145

1 set of Asher's salary
= 2145 ÷ 3
= $715

1 set of Dylan's salary = $415

Difference between each set of Asher's and Dylan's salaries
= 715 - 415
= $300

Number of days in 1 set
= 300 ÷ 25
= 12

Number of days that Asher worked
= 3 x 12
= 36
