Elijah and Ben were paid a total of $2610 for a job they did. Ben was paid $1870 less than Elijah.

2. Elijah and Ben were paid based on the number of days they worked. Elijah worked 4 times as many days as Ben. Elijah was paid $10 more than Ben per day. How many days did Elijah work?

Amount that Ben was paid = 1 u
Amount that Elijah was paid = 1 u + 1870

Total amount paid
= 1 u + 1 u + 1870
= 2 u + 1870

2 u + 1870 = 2610
2 u = 2610 - 1870
2 u = 740

1 u = 740 ÷ 2 = 370

Amount that Ben was paid
= 1 u
= $370

Amount that Elijah was paid
= 1 u + 1870
= 370 + 1870
= $2240

Elijah worked 4 times as many days as Ben.

4 sets of Elijah's salary = $2240

1 set of Elijah's salary
= 2240 ÷ 4
= $560

1 set of Ben's salary = $370

Difference between each set of Elijah's and Ben's salaries
= 560 - 370
= $190

Number of days in 1 set
= 190 ÷ 10
= 19

Number of days that Elijah worked
= 4 x 19
= 76
