2. Vaidev and Pierre were paid based on the number of days they worked. Vaidev worked 2 times as many days as Pierre. Vaidev was paid $15 more than Pierre per day. How many days did Vaidev work?

Amount that Pierre was paid = 1 u
Amount that Vaidev was paid = 1 u + 970

Total amount paid
= 1 u + 1 u + 970
= 2 u + 970

2 u + 970 = 2250
2 u = 2250 - 970
2 u = 1280

1 u = 1280 ÷ 2 = 640

Amount that Pierre was paid
= 1 u
= $640

(b)
Amount that Vaidev was paid
= 1 u + 970
= 640 + 970
= $1610

Vaidev worked 2 times as many days as Pierre.

2 sets of Vaidev's salary = $1610

1 set of Vaidev's salary
= 1610 ÷ 2
= $805

1 set of Pierre's salary = $640

Difference between each set of Vaidev's and Pierre's salaries
= 805 - 640
= $165

Number of days in 1 set
= 165 ÷ 15
= 11

Number of days that Vaidev worked
= 2 x 11
= 22
