Rael and Henry were paid a total of $3420 for a job they did. Rael was paid $1830 more than Henry.

1. How much was Henry paid for the job?
2. Rael and Henry were paid based on the number of days they worked. Rael worked 3 times as many days as Henry. Henry was paid $20 less than Rael per day. How many days did Rael work?

Amount that Henry was paid = 1 u
Amount that Rael was paid = 1 u + 1830

Total amount paid
= 1 u + 1 u + 1830
= 2 u + 1830

2 u + 1830 = 3420
2 u = 3420 - 1830
2 u = 1590

1 u = 1590 ÷ 2 = 795

Amount that Henry was paid
= 1 u
= $795

(b)
Amount that Rael was paid
= 1 u + 1830
= 795 + 1830
= $2625

Rael worked 3 times as many days as Henry.

3 sets of Rael's salary = $2625

1 set of Rael's salary
= 2625 ÷ 3
= $875

1 set of Henry's salary = $795

Difference between each set of Rael's and Henry's salaries
= 875 - 795
= $80

Number of days in 1 set
= 80 ÷ 20
= 4

Number of days that Rael worked
= 3 x 4
= 12
