Gabriel and Zeph were paid a total of $2750 for a job they did. Gabriel was paid $1690 more than Zeph.

1. How much was Zeph paid for the job?
2. Gabriel and Zeph were paid based on the number of days they worked. Gabriel worked 4 times as many days as Zeph. Zeph was paid $5 less than Gabriel per day. How many days did Gabriel work?

Amount that Zeph was paid = 1 u
Amount that Gabriel was paid = 1 u + 1690

Total amount paid
= 1 u + 1 u + 1690
= 2 u + 1690

2 u + 1690 = 2750
2 u = 2750 - 1690
2 u = 1060

1 u = 1060 ÷ 2 = 530

Amount that Zeph was paid
= 1 u
= $530

(b)
Amount that Gabriel was paid
= 1 u + 1690
= 530 + 1690
= $2220

Gabriel worked 4 times as many days as Zeph.

4 sets of Gabriel's salary = $2220

1 set of Gabriel's salary
= 2220 ÷ 4
= $555

1 set of Zeph's salary = $530

Difference between each set of Gabriel's and Zeph's salaries
= 555 - 530
= $25

Number of days in 1 set
= 25 ÷ 5
= 5

Number of days that Gabriel worked
= 4 x 5
= 20
