Oscar and Jeremy were paid a total of $4650 for a job they did. Jeremy was paid $1630 less than Oscar.

1. How much was Jeremy paid for the job?
2. Oscar and Jeremy were paid based on the number of days they worked. Oscar worked 2 times as many days as Jeremy. Oscar was paid $20 more than Jeremy per day. How many days did Oscar work?

Amount that Jeremy was paid = 1 u
Amount that Oscar was paid = 1 u + 1630

Total amount paid
= 1 u + 1 u + 1630
= 2 u + 1630

2 u + 1630 = 4650
2 u = 4650 - 1630
2 u = 3020

1 u = 3020 ÷ 2 = 1510

Amount that Jeremy was paid
= 1 u
= $1510

(b)
Amount that Oscar was paid
= 1 u + 1630
= 1510 + 1630
= $3140

Oscar worked 2 times as many days as Jeremy.

2 sets of Oscar's salary = $3140

1 set of Oscar's salary
= 3140 ÷ 2
= $1570

1 set of Jeremy's salary = $1510

Difference between each set of Oscar's and Jeremy's salaries
= 1570 - 1510
= $60

Number of days in 1 set
= 60 ÷ 20
= 3

Number of days that Oscar worked
= 2 x 3
= 6
