Elijah and Archie were paid a total of $2700 for a job they did. Elijah was paid $1160 more than Archie.

2. Elijah and Archie were paid based on the number of days they worked. Elijah worked 2 times as many days as Archie. Archie was paid $15 less than Elijah per day. How many days did Elijah work?

Amount that Archie was paid = 1 u
Amount that Elijah was paid = 1 u + 1160

Total amount paid
= 1 u + 1 u + 1160
= 2 u + 1160

2 u + 1160 = 2700
2 u = 2700 - 1160
2 u = 1540

1 u = 1540 ÷ 2 = 770

Amount that Archie was paid
= 1 u
= $770

Amount that Elijah was paid
= 1 u + 1160
= 770 + 1160
= $1930

Elijah worked 2 times as many days as Archie.

2 sets of Elijah's salary = $1930

1 set of Elijah's salary
= 1930 ÷ 2
= $965

1 set of Archie's salary = $770

Difference between each set of Elijah's and Archie's salaries
= 965 - 770
= $195

Number of days in 1 set
= 195 ÷ 15
= 13

Number of days that Elijah worked
= 2 x 13
= 26
