Will and Flynn were paid a total of $3410 for a job they did. Will was paid $1310 more than Flynn.

1. How much was Flynn paid for the job?
2. Will and Flynn were paid based on the number of days they worked. Will worked 2 times as many days as Flynn. Flynn was paid $10 less than Will per day. How many days did Will work?

Amount that Flynn was paid = 1 u
Amount that Will was paid = 1 u + 1310

Total amount paid
= 1 u + 1 u + 1310
= 2 u + 1310

2 u + 1310 = 3410
2 u = 3410 - 1310
2 u = 2100

1 u = 2100 ÷ 2 = 1050

Amount that Flynn was paid
= 1 u
= $1050

(b)
Amount that Will was paid
= 1 u + 1310
= 1050 + 1310
= $2360

Will worked 2 times as many days as Flynn.

2 sets of Will's salary = $2360

1 set of Will's salary
= 2360 ÷ 2
= $1180

1 set of Flynn's salary = $1050

Difference between each set of Will's and Flynn's salaries
= 1180 - 1050
= $130

Number of days in 1 set
= 130 ÷ 10
= 13

Number of days that Will worked
= 2 x 13
= 26
