Luke and Brandon were paid a total of $2230 for a job they did. Brandon was paid $1610 less than Luke.

1. How much was Brandon paid for the job?
2. Luke and Brandon were paid based on the number of days they worked. Luke worked 4 times as many days as Brandon. Luke was paid $10 more than Brandon per day. How many days did Luke work?

Amount that Brandon was paid = 1 u
Amount that Luke was paid = 1 u + 1610

Total amount paid
= 1 u + 1 u + 1610
= 2 u + 1610

2 u + 1610 = 2230
2 u = 2230 - 1610
2 u = 620

1 u = 620 ÷ 2 = 310

Amount that Brandon was paid
= 1 u
= $310

Amount that Luke was paid
= 1 u + 1610
= 310 + 1610
= $1920

Luke worked 4 times as many days as Brandon.

4 sets of Luke's salary = $1920

1 set of Luke's salary
= 1920 ÷ 4
= $480

1 set of Brandon's salary = $310

Difference between each set of Luke's and Brandon's salaries
= 480 - 310
= $170

Number of days in 1 set
= 170 ÷ 10
= 17

Number of days that Luke worked
= 4 x 17
= 68
