Ethan and Bryan were paid a total of $2550 for a job they did. Ethan was paid $1170 more than Bryan.

1. How much was Bryan paid for the job?
2. Ethan and Bryan were paid based on the number of days they worked. Ethan worked 2 times as many days as Bryan. Bryan was paid $15 less than Ethan per day. How many days did Ethan work?

Amount that Bryan was paid = 1 u
Amount that Ethan was paid = 1 u + 1170

Total amount paid
= 1 u + 1 u + 1170
= 2 u + 1170

2 u + 1170 = 2550
2 u = 2550 - 1170
2 u = 1380

1 u = 1380 ÷ 2 = 690

Amount that Bryan was paid
= 1 u
= $690

(b)
Amount that Ethan was paid
= 1 u + 1170
= 690 + 1170
= $1860

Ethan worked 2 times as many days as Bryan.

2 sets of Ethan's salary = $1860

1 set of Ethan's salary
= 1860 ÷ 2
= $930

1 set of Bryan's salary = $690

Difference between each set of Ethan's and Bryan's salaries
= 930 - 690
= $240

Number of days in 1 set
= 240 ÷ 15
= 16

Number of days that Ethan worked
= 2 x 16
= 32
