Seth and Cody were paid a total of $2610 for a job they did. Seth was paid $1030 more than Cody.

1. How much was Cody paid for the job?
2. Seth and Cody were paid based on the number of days they worked. Seth worked 2 times as many days as Cody. Cody was paid $10 less than Seth per day. How many days did Seth work?

Amount that Cody was paid = 1 u
Amount that Seth was paid = 1 u + 1030

Total amount paid
= 1 u + 1 u + 1030
= 2 u + 1030

2 u + 1030 = 2610
2 u = 2610 - 1030
2 u = 1580

1 u = 1580 ÷ 2 = 790

Amount that Cody was paid
= 1 u
= $790

(b)
Amount that Seth was paid
= 1 u + 1030
= 790 + 1030
= $1820

Seth worked 2 times as many days as Cody.

2 sets of Seth's salary = $1820

1 set of Seth's salary
= 1820 ÷ 2
= $910

1 set of Cody's salary = $790

Difference between each set of Seth's and Cody's salaries
= 910 - 790
= $120

Number of days in 1 set
= 120 ÷ 10
= 12

Number of days that Seth worked
= 2 x 12
= 24
