Will and Ethan were paid a total of $2350 for a job they did. Will was paid $1340 more than Ethan.

1. How much was Ethan paid for the job?
2. Will and Ethan were paid based on the number of days they worked. Will worked 3 times as many days as Ethan. Ethan was paid $10 less than Will per day. How many days did Will work?

Amount that Ethan was paid = 1 u
Amount that Will was paid = 1 u + 1340

Total amount paid
= 1 u + 1 u + 1340
= 2 u + 1340

2 u + 1340 = 2350
2 u = 2350 - 1340
2 u = 1010

1 u = 1010 ÷ 2 = 505

Amount that Ethan was paid
= 1 u
= $505

(b)
Amount that Will was paid
= 1 u + 1340
= 505 + 1340
= $1845

Will worked 3 times as many days as Ethan.

3 sets of Will's salary = $1845

1 set of Will's salary
= 1845 ÷ 3
= $615

1 set of Ethan's salary = $505

Difference between each set of Will's and Ethan's salaries
= 615 - 505
= $110

Number of days in 1 set
= 110 ÷ 10
= 11

Number of days that Will worked
= 3 x 11
= 33
