George and Vincent were paid a total of $2590 for a job they did. Vincent was paid $1010 less than George.

2. George and Vincent were paid based on the number of days they worked. George worked 2 times as many days as Vincent. George was paid $10 more than Vincent per day. How many days did George work?

Amount that Vincent was paid = 1 u
Amount that George was paid = 1 u + 1010

Total amount paid
= 1 u + 1 u + 1010
= 2 u + 1010

2 u + 1010 = 2590
2 u = 2590 - 1010
2 u = 1580

1 u = 1580 ÷ 2 = 790

Amount that Vincent was paid
= 1 u
= $790

(b)
Amount that George was paid
= 1 u + 1010
= 790 + 1010
= $1800

George worked 2 times as many days as Vincent.

2 sets of George's salary = $1800

1 set of George's salary
= 1800 ÷ 2
= $900

1 set of Vincent's salary = $790

Difference between each set of George's and Vincent's salaries
= 900 - 790
= $110

Number of days in 1 set
= 110 ÷ 10
= 11

Number of days that George worked
= 2 x 11
= 22
