Albert and Will were paid a total of $2310 for a job they did. Albert was paid $1350 more than Will.

1. How much was Will paid for the job?
2. Albert and Will were paid based on the number of days they worked. Albert worked 3 times as many days as Will. Will was paid $10 less than Albert per day. How many days did Albert work?

Amount that Will was paid = 1 u
Amount that Albert was paid = 1 u + 1350

Total amount paid
= 1 u + 1 u + 1350
= 2 u + 1350

2 u + 1350 = 2310
2 u = 2310 - 1350
2 u = 960

1 u = 960 ÷ 2 = 480

Amount that Will was paid
= 1 u
= $480

(b)
Amount that Albert was paid
= 1 u + 1350
= 480 + 1350
= $1830

Albert worked 3 times as many days as Will.

3 sets of Albert's salary = $1830

1 set of Albert's salary
= 1830 ÷ 3
= $610

1 set of Will's salary = $480

Difference between each set of Albert's and Will's salaries
= 610 - 480
= $130

Number of days in 1 set
= 130 ÷ 10
= 13

Number of days that Albert worked
= 3 x 13
= 39
