Daniel and Ethan were paid a total of $1810 for a job they did. Ethan was paid $1290 less than Daniel.

1. How much was Ethan paid for the job?
2. Daniel and Ethan were paid based on the number of days they worked. Daniel worked 5 times as many days as Ethan. Daniel was paid $25 more than Ethan per day. How many days did Daniel work?

Amount that Ethan was paid = 1 u
Amount that Daniel was paid = 1 u + 1290

Total amount paid
= 1 u + 1 u + 1290
= 2 u + 1290

2 u + 1290 = 1810
2 u = 1810 - 1290
2 u = 520

1 u = 520 ÷ 2 = 260

Amount that Ethan was paid
= 1 u
= $260

(b)
Amount that Daniel was paid
= 1 u + 1290
= 260 + 1290
= $1550

Daniel worked 5 times as many days as Ethan.

5 sets of Daniel's salary = $1550

1 set of Daniel's salary
= 1550 ÷ 5
= $310

1 set of Ethan's salary = $260

Difference between each set of Daniel's and Ethan's salaries
= 310 - 260
= $50

Number of days in 1 set
= 50 ÷ 25
= 2

Number of days that Daniel worked
= 5 x 2
= 10
